The festival is being held to give artists and cultural figures from different countries the opportunity to exchange views and experiences, to showcase cultural variety, and to encourage Europeans and Iranians to seek common ground.
A number of European writers, illustrators, and scholars are participating in the festival. Several plays with the central theme of ancient legends and modern stories of Iran and European countries are to be performed during the event which runs through until October 8.
The program will also feature writing and illustration workshops in which children will be asked to write stories based on European illustration works on display at the festival, while Iranian stories will be selected for European children to write about.
In addition, book fairs, exhibitions of illustrations, and screenings of films for children are to be held at the festival.
The event is being sponsored by the Austrian non-governmental organization X-change with the cooperation of several organizations from Finland, Sweden, Iran, and Norway. X-change was established three years ago. It has been cooperating with Tehran University, Beheshti University, and the University of Fine Arts in the field of architecture.
